An active and forward-looking Society that brings together genealogists and historians with an interest in the area covered by the old Hundred of West Derby. Founded by Joyce and Harry Culling and others in May 1976, the Society has grown to include six groups, Liverpool, Leigh, Southport, Skelmersdale and Upholland, Warrington and Widnes, with a membership of nearly 1,500. The groups each have their own web pages detailing their calendars of regular meetings throughout the year, relevant information from around the area and details of the Help Desks, which are run by volunteers who assist anyone needing help or information. Regular journal, lecture programme at monthly meetings, visits and other activities connected with subjects of interest to the Society. See each site for detail regarding membership and meetings.

A non-profit making concern established in 1980 to provide education services to the furtherance of research into genealogy and family history and to support the work of the regions societies, libraries and record offices.


THE FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY OF CHESHIRE www.fhsc.org.uk
The Family History Society of Cheshire (FHSC) was founded in 1969 to advance the study of family history and genealogy, and they now have around 3000 members worldwide. As well as helping people with ancestors in Cheshire, they also assist members living locally whose ancestors originated elsewhere.
Local Group include :West Kirkby, Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington, and Chester
Members’ benefits: Each group arranges its own programme of meetings and activities.
They produce a large number of publications relating to Cheshire family history, and a quarterly Journal, the Cheshire Ancestor.
